New elevated connection toward the airport
The elevated section of the Distribuidor Vial Kukulcán opened to traffic on November 1, 2026, at 06:00, in the direction from boulevard Kukulcán toward Cancún International Airport. The project forms part of the infrastructure supporting the Nichupté Bridge. The release distinguishes this opening from the opposite direction, expected to open in subsequent weeks. It also states that the Kukulcán turnaround beside Hospital La Joya remains restricted to local access to the adjacent plaza. [1]
MOBI begins service with 20 buses
The Villas del Mar 3–Puente Nichupté route began operating on November 2, connecting northern Cancún with the Hotel Zone via the bridge. Although the previous day’s announcement mentioned 36 buses, the service launch release reported 20. Operated under the Quintana Roo state government, the route reaches kilometer 20 of boulevard Kukulcán. Free rides are available from November 2 to 9 so passengers can become familiar with the route and its designated stops. [2] [3]
Two weekly nonstop flights between Cancún and Acapulco
The start of Viva Aerobus’s nonstop Cancún–Acapulco flight was announced on November 3, with departures on Tuesdays and Saturdays. The service uses Airbus A320 aircraft with capacity for 186 passengers. These two weekly frequencies join the Thursday and Sunday services, which stop at Felipe Ángeles International Airport. The release therefore distinguishes the new nonstop options from the connections already operating between the two tourist destinations, bringing the combined schedule to four weekly flights. [4]
